What does it mean to be a cinematographer? Is it simply positioning a camera? Lighting a frame? What I feel goes far deeper, beyond setting up the lights, framing the actor before the first words are spoken. Before doing this, there is darkness everything lacks a meaning, like the world before God created. When light exposes the sensor of the camera, and the camera finds its place within the story. All things fall into place. A cinematographer sees a world before darkness, a world that does not exists. Knowledge and Technology mean nothing in that moment, without the gift of sight.
